Wesley Hall is entered through the main entrance of Trinity Church in Union Road.  The new venue is about 100 yards from the Landmark Centre at the opposite end of Union Road.

There is no licensed bar at this venue, but tea and coffee will be available at all meetings.

Parking is available conveniently located in the Union Road car park in the High Street or West Street car park.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: reports for Journal

Our thanks go to Mrs Jenny Noake, who has done an excellent job in obtaining speakers for our branch meetings over the past few years.

We need someone to provide reports on meetings for the Journal; if you would be prepared to take on this task, please talk to one of the committee..

NEWS FROM THE ARCHIVES: Canterbury Cathedral Closure

The Dean and Chapter has decided to close the Cathedral Archives
from the end of January 2012 for a period of at least 7 months because of
the need to carry out essential repair to the building's roofs.

Project planning for the closure and related works has only just started (July 2011),
and there is no date for re-opening. When it does open again, the Archives
will be a fully Dean and Chapter operated facility. The Receiver-General
appreciates that this is unexpected news, but the state of the building
necessitates this closure.

Live in the Dover/Deal/Sandwich area?  Why not come along to the Deal and District Branch of the KFHS and see what the society has to offer.  We meet in the Wesley Hall at Trinity Church, Union Road, Deal, on the second Tuesday of every month.  Arrive 7.00pm for 7.30pm start.

FREE tea or coffee is available before the talk.

Members of the committee are on hand to answer any questions and give advice on your family history research before and after the speaker.  Various books and pamphlets will be available from the bookstall when we have sorted out the materials.  We have also built up a small library of books and other items that can be borrowed by members free of charge for one month.

There is a raffle drawn at the end of each meeting.

Admission is free to all members of the KFHS.  A nominal charge of £1 will apply to non-members.  Why not take the opportunity to become a member?   Family membership currently costs just £10 (10 Pounds) a year for a family (UK and Europe) or £9 (9 Pounds) for individual membership - that's less than the cost of attending the 11 monthly meetings as a guest!  Members can attend meetings at any or all of the branches as often as they like.

As a KFHS member, you will be able to join our Global (e-mail) Branch, which will put you in touch with members across the world.  You will also get the Society Journal four times a year and a list of members' interests and contact details, updated in the Journal every quarter.  Members can also access the Members' Interests section of the main Society Website and get discounted prices on our microfiche and CD publications.

Please Note: subs were increased on 1st January 2007 to include a £5 joining fee to cover the costs of the initial mail-out, including the welcome pack; renewal fees have not changed.

TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2007

Membership fees are due on the 1st July annually.  Any member failing to renew their subscription by 1st September of that year, will be deemed to have resigned.  If they subsequently rejoin, they will incur the £5.00 joining fee.
